We're delighted to announce that FASNZ have engaged ROB PLATTEL from the Netherlands as Guest Demonstrator for 2014.
Rob's a freelance Master Florist, demonstrator, tutor and author and we believe he epitomises what creativity with natural materials is all about. He's a designer who takes his cues from Nature and finds inspiration in whatever materials are available in a location at the time and what he can "forage". He's heavily influenced by natural growth patterns and structure of botanical materials and he uses all parts of a plant in his design work. His floral work has a "softness" and "transparency" about it. He really understands the craft of putting organic material, in all its forms, into the spotlight and handles plant material in such a way that once in a design, each piece says "Hey look at me!" His "Natural Art" organic sculptures add an extra dimension to his floral work. These art sculptures are often created using one material only. His publications include his solo book "Natural Rhythms" and he was a Silver Leaf award winner in the 2006-2007 edition of International Annual of Floral Art. His website, www.naturalart.nl, is worth visiting.
Rob has excellent English and speaks our technical language – he talks about threading, binding, etc. just like we do. While in Queenstown he'll be guiding us around the botanical treasures of our own environment through new eyes. He will be presenting a Demonstration, a Trends and Techniques session and an Advanced Workshop.
EXCITING TIMES AHEAD!!
So start your planning now for an April Design Adventure @ Altitude in Queenstown,
10-12 April 2014. Conference Brochures and Registration Forms will be with Club Secretary's in September.
