HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS ANGEL

REQUIREMENTS:

• Astelia or flax leaf (1) stripped to required width
• skeletonised leaves (2)
• polystyrene cone and ball painted with water based paint
• pearl headed pins and satay stick
  

METHOD:

1. Using a length of satay stick attach ball to cone creating the head
2. Using pins, attach 2 Astelia strips to base of cone, twist behind cone and bring to the front. Attach with pins again, as shown in diagram, before twisting behind the polystyrene and attaching a third time to the centre of the sphere to create a halo effect. Trim Astelia level at the bottom of cone
3. Pin the skeletonised leaves behind the cone to create wings.

STAGING:

For an effective Advent display to prepare for the celebration of Christmas, Jan placed three angels between four Advent wreaths constructed in violet painted planter saucers, using clipped Cedrus Deodora foliage surrounding violet candles. Decorative wire linking all wreaths and angels created rhythm, with the four violet candles symbolising,

HOPE, PEACE, JOY AND LOVE.
