BUNDLING AND PINNING WITH PINE NEEDLES

REQUIREMENTS:

Plant Material:

• Large quantity of pine needles (preferably green)
• Polystyrene balls covered with foliage, fibre or other medium of your choice

Other Requirements:

• Flat tray or polystyrene base
• Wire - fine green wire or paper covered wire can be used to introduce a decorative feature

METHOD:

• Make small bundles of fresh green pine needles keeping all the brown tips even.

• Either (a) create a mat by twisting wire of your choice around the middle of each bundle and attaching the wire to the next bunch using the "Tatami method".

• Ensure the brown tip end is level as this will be your guide when placing on to your tray.

• Or (b) alternatively individual bunches may be created and by leaving sufficient wire from the ties, these bunches may then be pinned individually with this wire to a polystyrene base

• Ann has created two mats and placed these to form an interesting pattern at the base, and then placed decorative balls on this base to provide interest by contrast.
