Timaru Floral Art Group Designer of the Year 2010
In May, members of the Timaru Floral Art Group competed for the Dorothy Parker Trophy awarded to the Designer of the Year winner.
The title was 'Under the Spotlight' - a triadic colour design.
All entries were staged on a table top.
Definition: - A triadic colour harmony consists of three hues lying equidistant on the colour wheel. The virtues of the triad lie in the vitality of the three-way hue opposition. It demands a secure dominance of one of the contenders. ... Flair – Education Reference book for the Floral Art Society of New Zealand Inc. Revised edition 2007.
The judge Jenny Wallace from the Temuka/Clandeboye Floral Art Group, was very impressed with the overall standard of all fourteen designs but noted one or two had trouble with the colour harmony but she commended all competitors on the designs presented to her for judging.
Following the competition all the designs were displayed at the South Canterbury RSA, where the public could view them over two days.
