Takapuna Floral Art Club 2010
The Takapuna Floral Art Club recently held club competitions, a demonstration and an exciting and innovative workshop over two consecutive days.
Guests of honour were Rhonda Hall and Rae Baxter, two dedicated and inspirational floral artists from Southland. Both designers were very busy during their time in Auckland and left those who had attended sessions over the two days exhausted, but happy having learnt so much. Everyone left inspired, their imagination running riot and eager to create another 'masterpiece'.
Their first task was to judge the club competition which was presented in three classes all with the title "Minimalist Masterpiece".
After lunch a demonstration inspired by Rhonda and Rae’s visit to the Interflora World Cup held earlier this year in Shanghai, was presented to members. Rae captured the architecture of the city in several of her designs while Rhonda treated us to her sculpture inspired creations.
On the second day both visitors conducted an all day workshop. 'Hooked on Form' was the theme where Rae and Rhonda taught members several new and interesting techniques and put forward suggestions for incorporating them in their floral designing. These included using satay sticks, toothpicks, pine needles, wire netting and plant material
