Canada Blooms Toronto 2011
Jenny Harris a member of Floral Art North Canterbury and a former President of the Floral Art Society of New Zealand was invited by the Canada Blooms 2011 organising committee to represent New Zealand in the International Floral Design class, at Canada Blooms this year. Jenny was delighted to receive a Silver award with her very innovative design
Design Title – “Speculative” a design for the future
Design description – 2 rows of 5 rectangles of very thin plywood 1 metre high x 25cm were glued together with 5cm cube spacers between them to give an upright and orderly appearance Some pieces were painted black for unity. Both square and round shapes were cut into the plywood giving interest, creating contrast, space and depth. Mandarin peelings carefully preserved were pinned on to various sized polystyrene squares with the addition of kelp for contrast and placed randomly through the design.
