Bay of Plenty Area DOY 2020
A wealth of talent displayed at the Bay in Bloom Exhibition
This stunning event was held at the Tauranga Race Course in conjunction with the 2020 Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival – Bloom in the Bay. This was a wonderful venue with a large room for displaying the designs and lots of parking for entrants and public alike. The competitions were held on 17th and 18th November and the exhibition was open to the public on the following three days.
The many entries, displaying the wealth of floral art talent in our Area, were judged by Heather Hammond and Rosalie Barr.
Bay of Plenty Area Day and Silver Anniversary 2019
Opotiki hosted the Area Day AGM for the Bay of Plenty on 27th March 2019 and at the same time celebrated the club’s Silver Anniversary.
A beautiful birthday cake, made and superbly iced by Mia Hopman, our Secretary, was cut by Janthia Holt and life members Phyllis Drury and Byrta Wagstaff.
These two Bay Life Members are an important part of our history as they were instrumental in setting up this Club. They set the foundation for a club that has had a significant role in the local community, and we are very privileged to have their continuing interest in our Club and our Area Days.
Janthia Holt, the FASNZ President, was warmly welcomed as our guest demonstrator and she didn’t disappoint. Her designs were original, interesting and also very educational. The full hall, with visitors from as far as Hamilton, enjoyed her relaxed style and storytelling.
The day concluded with everyone enjoying the Club designs, along with 42 benched designs, followed by a cup of tea and, for some, a long trip home.
