Designer of the Year 2018

An early morning start on 27th July 2018 saw sixteen contestants packing into Gisborne’s War Memorial Theatre Foyer for the Area Designer of the Year competition. The overall title was ‘Winter Patterns’. The judges were Ann O’Donaghue and Lesley Campbell.

Results

Designer of the Year Open Section. Title: ‘Spirit of the Season’, a free standing floor design. There were 10 entrants.
1st place and Designer of the Year: Beverley Miller
2nd place: Yvonne Fletcher
3rd place: Janice Prebble

Intermediate Section. Title: ‘Wind Blown’, a floor level design with 2 entrants.
1st place: Jane Shanks

Junior Section. Title: ‘Winter Wood’, a table top design. There were 4 entrants.
1st place: Karen Moult
2nd place: Karen Varney
3rd place: Sharon Knowles

September Meeting 2018

Gisborne East Coast Area held their September meeting with a new schedule format which included a freestanding floor design requirement for Club Competition. The Novice, Intermediate , and Senior sections were table top designs. The Title for the day was "In the Pink". Members were also entertained with a demonstration by Sue Jones entitled "My Passion; My Family and Floral Designing", where her designs featured various popular techniques as well as her talented granddaughters!
